Oyster mushroom commonly called as “Dhingri” in India is popularly cultivated, owing to its nutritional benefits & easy cultivation method. Hence, creating awareness & popularizing the cultivation of oyster mushroom, a one day training programme cum method demonstration was conducted by ICAR KVK, Anjaw on 10th December, 2018 at Lautul village (Manchal circle), Anjaw District. The key objective of the training was to train the participant’s on different aspects of oyster mushroom production. Altogether 31 farmers including farmers, farm women & rural youth participated.
Ms Rebecca Eko, SMS (Horticulture) coordinator of the training programme, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of cultivating mushroom. She mentioned that Mishmi tribal people still follow their age old practice of collecting mushroom from the forest, which is seasonal & if not properly identified can be dangerous. Hence, encouraging the farmers to adopt the cultivation of oyster mushroom, she made a detailed presentation on different steps of oyster mushroom cultivation, its postharvest management techniques and insect pest management. Later on, the participants were made acquainted with the cultivation techniques by a method demonstration conducted, followed by distribution of mushroom spawn.
